Why list your llms.txt on LLMs Ledger

Publishing the file is step one. Listing it means someone checks that it actually works, tells you in plain English when something is wrong, and keeps a public record of it. You get a validated file, a listing page that links to your site, and (on paid plans) an alert the moment the file breaks or changes.

We can't promise that, and nobody honestly can: each AI company decides what it reads. What a listing does is make your llms.txt easier to discover. It sits on a public, well-structured page that people, search engines and AI crawlers can reach, next to a link to your site. The bigger win is knowing your file is correct, because a broken file helps no one.

Every check scores your file out of 100 against the llms.txt proposal and lists each problem with exactly what to change. Most files we see have at least one issue: a missing title, links that point to the wrong place, or a web page served where the text file should be. Fixing those is the difference between a file AI tools can use and one they skip.

Files break quietly. A theme update, a plugin change, a site migration or a CDN rule can replace your llms.txt with an error page, and you'd never notice. Paid plans check it every month or every night, keep each version so you can see what changed, and email you when it disappears or breaks. Nightly also emails you exactly what changed.

It's a dated record of what your llms.txt said and when. Teams use it to see who changed what, to roll back a bad edit, and to prove what they told AI tools at a point in time. Paid plans show a line-by-line comparison of every change, and Nightly also emails it to you.

Yes. The directory is grouped by category and shows each site's score, so you can see how competitors and leaders in your industry structure their files and borrow what works.

It shows you take AI visibility seriously. Paid and verified listings show that the owner manages them, and the optional badge on your site tells visitors your llms.txt is published and checked.

You get one dashboard for every client's llms.txt: scores, problems to fix, version history and alerts, with bulk add and verify. Agency plans cover 10 sites per pack, and it's an easy, visible deliverable to show clients you're preparing them for AI search.

A free check of your whole site, not just llms.txt: can AI search tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Bing and Google read it, is your content visible without JavaScript, do you have structured data describing your business, a sitemap, a clear title and description. Each problem comes with a plain-English fix. Listed sites are re-checked automatically and the score is tracked in your dashboard.

Listing is free if you show our small badge on your site. Paid plans start at $9/month and need no badge. We never change your website or your file; we only read the public file you publish, and you can remove your listing at any time.

llms.txt basics

A short text file at yoursite.com/llms.txt that tells AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and others) what your business or project does and which pages matter most. Think of it as a menu written for AI tools. It's a proposed standard; you can read it at llmstxt.org.

It's optional and free to add. AI tools are still deciding how much to use it, so it isn't a guaranteed ranking boost. It takes a few minutes, it can only help AI tools describe you correctly, and it's a good chance to decide which pages you want recommended.

Use our free generator: answer a few questions and copy or download the file. On WordPress, the Yoast SEO, Rank Math and All in One SEO plugins can create it for you automatically.

Easiest: in Yoast SEO, Rank Math or All in One SEO, look for the llms.txt setting and turn it on. No SEO plugin, or not sure? Use our generator, then press "Email it to my developer" and whoever looks after your site can add it in a few minutes.

Yes, all three support it now (menu names change, so search their help center for "llms.txt" if a step doesn't match). Squarespace 7.1: SEO/AI Visibility → SEO Settings → LLMS.txt tab, paste your file and save. Wix makes one automatically for Premium sites with a connected domain: SEO & GEO → Go to llms.txt, where you can view or edit it. Shopify serves an automatic file at /llms.txt; to write your own, add a template named llms.txt.liquid in Online Store → Themes → Edit code. Our free generator can write the text for you, and you can add and verify your site with us now.

Every file starts at 100. Each "must fix" problem costs 40 points and each "should fix" costs 10. Tips don't cost anything. 80 or more is good. The validator shows each problem in plain English with exactly what to change.

Getting listed

So nobody else can list, edit or claim your site. You add a small code to your site once: a line in your site's header (WordPress, Squarespace, Wix and Shopify all have a place for this), or a DNS record where you bought your domain. The verify page shows step-by-step instructions for each, plus a button to email the steps to your developer.

Wait a minute and try again: changes can take a few minutes to appear. If you use a caching plugin or service (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, Cloudflare…), clear the cache first. On Shopify, make sure you edited the published theme and the store isn't password protected. On Wix, the tag needs a Premium plan with a connected domain. DNS records can take up to an hour. Still stuck? Email us and we'll check it for you.

Free listings show a small "Listed on LLMs Ledger" badge on your site, usually in the footer. It links to your listing. We check once a week that it's still there. If it's removed, we email you and re-check daily; if it's still gone after 14 days, the listing is hidden until you put it back. Paid plans don't need the badge.

No. We only read the public file you publish. Your website stays the source of truth.

Email [email protected] from an address at your domain and we'll remove the listing and stored copies within 5 business days.

Plans and billing

All plans list your site, score your llms.txt and check your whole site's AI readiness. The difference is how often we check. Free: llms.txt every 3 months, AI readiness monthly. Monthly ($9): llms.txt every month, AI readiness weekly, history, and an email if the file breaks. Nightly ($19, recommended): llms.txt every night with an email showing exactly what changed, AI readiness weekly. Agency ($79 per 10 sites): Nightly for all your client sites from one dashboard.

On the payment page, click "Add promotion code" under the price and enter your code. The discount shows before you pay.

Yes, any time from Billing in your dashboard. Your plan runs until the end of the period you've paid for, then your listing moves to the Free plan.
