LLMs Ledger vs llmstxt.info

LLMs Ledger and llmstxt.info are the two public llms.txt directories that also give website owners free tools to check and create the file. They look similar. They're built for different people and watch different things.

We run LLMs Ledger, so read this knowing that. We've stuck to what each site says about itself, as of October 2026. Prices and features change, so check llmstxt.info for its current details.

The short answer

  • llmstxt.info has the bigger directory (about 3,800 entries), is written mainly for a German audience (with an English version), sells one-time placement upgrades for listings, and has a Pro plan that tracks what AI assistants say across up to 5 of your domains.
  • LLMs Ledger has a smaller, newer directory (156 listings), is written for US small businesses and the people who run their websites, and sells monitoring of the llms.txt file itself: we check it every month or every night and email you when it breaks or changes.

Which one is right for you?

Choose llmstxt.info if you're in a German-speaking market, want your entry in the biggest llms.txt directory, or mainly want to see what AI assistants say about your brand each week.

Choose LLMs Ledger if you're a US small business, or the person who looks after its website, and your worry is the file quietly breaking. A theme update, a plugin change or a site move can replace your llms.txt with an error page, and you'd never notice. We check it every night and email you the morning after, with exactly what changed.

Many owners will do fine with both free tiers. Check your file first; it takes a few seconds.

Questions

Yes. Neither directory asks for an exclusive listing, and listing in both costs nothing on their free tiers. If you list on LLMs Ledger's Free plan, you'll need our small badge on your site.

We can't promise that a listing on either site gets you found by AI assistants, and nobody honestly can: each AI company decides what it reads. A bigger directory gives you more neighbours. What matters more is that your own llms.txt is correct and keeps working.

LLMs Ledger watches your llms.txt file: whether it still loads, what changed, and whether its links work, checked every night or every month, with an email when it breaks or changes. llmstxt.info's Pro plan watches AI answers: it asks AI providers selected questions each week and emails you when your status changes. They answer different questions.

LLMs Ledger never changes your file: we read the one you publish and keep versions. llmstxt.info's generator creates a file you download and upload yourself, so it doesn't change your site either.
