1. 1Describe your site
  2. 2Copy or download the file
  3. 3Put it on your site
  4. 4Keep it working

1. Tell us about your site

Enter your website and we'll scan it for your name, a summary, key facts and your most important pages, grouped the way your menu groups them. Then check what we found: your file updates as you type.

We only read your public pages. Nothing is saved.
One or two sentences, the way you'd explain it to a new customer.
One per line: when you started, where you are, phone, hours, what you specialize in, awards. AI assistants quote these, so only include what's true.

Your most important pages

Group the pages you'd want an AI assistant to recommend into sections (like your menu), with a short note about each. Only add pages that exist on your site. A row is added to the file once it has a name and an address.

AI tools read this section last and may skip it, so it's the place for nice-to-have links.

2. Your llms.txt file

3. Put it on your site

The file must be reachable at yoursite.com/llms.txt. How you do that depends on how your site is built:

WordPress

Easiest: if your site uses Yoast SEO, Rank Math or All in One SEO, open its settings and turn on "llms.txt". It creates and updates the file for you. No SEO plugin? Send this file to whoever looks after your site.

Shopify

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes, then … → Edit code.
  2. In Templates, add a file named llms.txt.liquid, paste the file in and save.

Shopify serves an automatic file until you do.

Squarespace, Wix

Squarespace 7.1: SEO/AI Visibility → SEO Settings → LLMS.txt tab, paste and save. Wix makes one for Premium sites with a domain: SEO & GEO → Go to llms.txt → Edit file. Menus change; search their help for "llms.txt" if needed.

Custom site or developer

Save the file as llms.txt in the site's public root folder (next to robots.txt) so it loads at yoursite.com/llms.txt as plain text.

Not sure?

Send the file to whoever looks after your website.

Email it to my developer

4. Keep it working

An llms.txt quietly breaks more often than you'd think: a theme or plugin update, a caching or security plugin, or a site move can replace it with an error page, and AI assistants stop reading it. Nobody notices until someone asks why.

Is your file live yet?

Once you've uploaded it, we'll check yoursite.com/llms.txt for you.

Rather we put it on your site for you? Our WordPress team can do it.
